Welcome to the closest KOA Campground to Chicago and O’Hare International Airport

Have fun at Donley’s Wild West Town next door, visit the Illinois Railway museum, see Santa’s Village Azoosment Park, visit Six Flags Great America, cool off at Magic Waters near Rockford or in our own crystal clear pool in a friendly and quiet country setting, with long, leveled and mostly shaded pull-through 30/50 amps RV site, special tent sites, 7 Cabins and complementary Wi-Fi throughout the park.

Do you do seasonal sites where you can leave your trailer and come out on weekends? And if we sell our home, can we stay on a monthly cost for the rest of the season? Can you have three dogs all under 10 pounds?

    • Thomas

We have monthly sites and very few seasonal sites, but we have a storage area where you can leave you trailer in between stays. We do not have a limit on numbers of dogs but have certain breed restrictions for insurance purposes! Please call our office, open 8am to 8pm, 815-923-4206 to check availabilities.

Do you offer fishing at your campground

  • We want to go camping with our daughter who has special needs, and want to do everything we can to make sure she has a positive experience. Would you say this campground is accommodating to children with special needs? Thank you.

    • Thomas

We are a family campground with tent sites, RV sites and cabins. We try to accomodate as many people as possible. We are not specialized for kids with special needs. Please give us a call so we can discuss your needs. Thanks!

We have reservations for tonight, was wondering if you have firewood to purchase there?

  • Jackie Garcia

Do you have a list with all the activities that are going on this summer? I have a toddler and we are planning a trip down next weekend, and just want to make sure our daughter will have fun things to do on the campground? Thank you in advance!

    • Thomas

      Ms Garcia

Thank you for your inquiry about activities for your toddler at our campground.

There is lots to do! We not only have a playground with a large sand box and a pool, there are also toys, that can be borrowed at no cost and taken to your camp site. There is a ‘rainy day corner’ with books and coloring books, that we set up on those days with inclement weather. On weekends we plan a variety of activities geared towards young children like face painting, hay wagon rides, ice cream social, flash light candy hunt, movie and more. Each weekend plays out a little different. The weather is always a big factor.

I hope, you and your family are joining the fun this summer!

We love this KOA. Thomas, Sylvia, and all the work campers are great. Best campground in the NW Chicago area. We like to visit our relatives in the area and always feel like we’re coming home when we stay here. We’ll be back for May and June of 2014. Can’t wait to see you. Liane and Paul Gruben, Middletown, NY

    • Thomas

      Liane,

Guests like you and Paul make it worthwhile to own a KOA campground. Thank you very much for your continuous support and we are more than happy to see you again in 2014.

Well, I don’t speak German, but my grandparents did. Will I still be welcome? Hahahahaaaaa! That would be a fun trip, and since it would now be a chance for me to bump into my grandson from time to time, you just never know!

wäre froh wenn Ihr mir Eure Mail-Adresse mitteilt, herzlichen Dank und viele Grüsse Käthi

  • Looks great! Hope you had a wonderful season. We are juste back from Lake Tahoe and Yosemite
but I promise that next year I’ll drive north direction Chicago (still on our to do list) with family and dog (you accept dogs?). All the best Fabienne & family

    • Thomas

Thanks and that would be cool to reconnect in Chicago on a KOA. Dogs are welcomed as long they are not pitbulls etc.
Chicago will be different than Tahoe and Yosemite.

      See you soon!!

I believe we are fellow interns from the back home bakery, Mark told me you had settled into a KOA. Will you be there next season ? I motorcycle travel when I can & love the camper cabins. It would be great to know someone at the campground. Saw your post on the fresh loaf & thought I’d drop you a line.

      Hey Charlie,

Yep I was up in Kalispell twice and loved it. Mark and Sharon are great people and they have a wonderful place to live.
I have all intention to be at our KOA next summer too. Of course fellow TFLer and Back Home Bakery interns will get special treatment and probaly also a discount.

Let me know when you are ready to make reservations next year. Maybe by then I have sorted out the problems with the health department and can also sell my bread.
